This endowed position will be affiliated with the recently established Center for Software Innovation (CSI) at The Ohio State University. The Center, established by a generous $110M gift from the Timashev Family Foundation (the largest single donation in Ohio State’s history) is positioning the University and Ohio to be the epicenter for growth in the digital innovation ecosystem. It seeks to equip innovators with the skills, tools, and resources to build the digital economy and enable student education and access to the principles and practices of software innovation.
We seek candidates with expertise in the broad areas of software engineering, programming languages, compilers, and formal methods. The successful candidate will be able to leverage and complement existing PLSE expertise in the CSE Department, which conducts cutting-edge research on core PLSE topics together with multidisciplinary impact on systems, high-performance computing, privacy, security, and correctness. PLSE faculty consistently serve on the committees of major PLSE conferences and journals.
The successful candidate will be positioned to harness the Department’s world-class expertise in two of its core and traditional strengths, Systems and Artificial Intelligence, anchored by two NSF-funded AI institutes and an NSF-funded Imageomics Institute, alongside other major research centers with substantial funding. This rich ecosystem offers unparalleled opportunities for collaboration, innovation, translation, and leadership in cutting-edge research in large-scale software underpinned by AI, PL, and SE innovations. The candidate will have access to the Ohio Supercomputer Center’s advanced high-performance computing and data infrastructure—an invaluable asset for future research at the intersection of PLSE, AI, and Systems. This position is also aligned with the University’s AI fluency initiative, whereby each student will be fluent in AI as it applies to their field (https://oaa.osu.edu/ai-fluency).
